Experience a close encounter with the ‘gentle giants’ of the ocean, on an informative and educational whale-watching tour.

Whale-watching tours operate from the New Harbour in Hermanus, Western Cape – regarded as the whale-watching capital.

As a licensed permit holder, our leading experience provider operates under the motto “Observing Not Disturbing”.  The safety and conservation of the whales and marine life is principal.

From June to December each year you will usually encounter Southern Right Whales, Brydes Whales, Humpback Whales, Dolphins, Seals, Penguins and Marine Birds on this inspiring tour.  Their purpose-built catamaran complies with all safety regulations and its configuration provides spectacular viewing and comfort for guests.

The crew is knowledgeable and friendly and the service provided is informal yet educational, to ensure an all-round amazing experience.

This experience voucher can be purchased at any time, but is only valid for use during the whale season, from June to December.

Venue

New Harbour, Hermanus, Western Cape.

Availability

Daily departures in season, all tours are weather permitting.
From June – December trips are at 09h00, 12h00 & 15h00.
Additional departure at 07h00 from September onwards.

Session Length

The whale-watching tour is from 1hr 30m to 3hrs maximum, depending on travelling time to the whales.
Time spent with the whales is always the same.
The average duration of a tour is about 2 hours.

Guidelines

Arrival time is 30 minutes prior to departure, for our on-land briefing by our whale specialist.

Numbers

The price quoted is for 1 person.

Dress Code

Weather-appropriate clothing and a windbreaker, as well as sensible footwear, are mandatory.  Sunscreen and a cap are also recommended.
Anti sea-sickness tablets should be taken in advance – ask your pharmacist.

Spectators

This experience is not suitable for spectators.

Weather

All tours are weather-permitting and will need to be re-scheduled if the weather is inclement.

Other Info

– There is an optional DVD souvenir of your tour, available for purchase at the end (R180-00).
– Please note the experience provider needs 1 week’s notice to reschedule, otherwise your voucher will be forfeited. No booking is permissible on the day.
